I've searched around plenty and I can't find a satisfactory answer on flashing the firmware on the TS-L632M (presently firmware 917). The HP website offers no firmware (typical) and the live update option at the Samsung website ( http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/) says that this model is not supported (probably because it is not in a Samsung laptop). However, I've seen in postings in this forum that there is a firmware update available. See here:

There are apparently updates available but the Samsung site which uses the Liveupdate tool won't let me download them. I've seen other sites which offer firmware but I don't know if I should trust them. See here:

Should I avoid these updates altogether because they are not specifically for a HP laptop?
In case anyone is wondering, I want to flash the drive because it refuses to burn to any DL media except Verbatim. I have like 200 +R DL from TDK, Maxell and Memorex (all of them Ritek S04-66 - pure crap!) and no way to return them. Also, I find the burner very slow on CD burns and single layer DVD burns.

bump...
anyone? no comments?
See attachment.
Since I'm not getting any feedback I'll throw something else out there.
I managed to download TS-L632M_SC03.exe (the firmware) from Samsung's Korean website (it wasn't easy). Any opinions on whether I should go ahead and flash my drive?
