    Hi people.

I purchased a laptop from Asus in February, but just recently decided to reformat the SSD drive. I want to update the firmware on it, but im not shure how to do it or what drive i have
I have a Asus G60j laptop with Intel X25-M 160GB, and i`ve found the firmware update tool here:   Intel® SATA Solid-State Drive Firmware Update Tool

    Questions:
    1. What drive do i have: Intel® X25-M/X18-M SATA SSD on 50nm (black case) or Intel® X25-M/X18-M SATA SSD on 34nm (silver case)?
    2. Is there any other way than burning CDs to update the firmware?
    3. I tried using the TRIM toolbox from Intel earlier, but couldnt use the TRIM feature. Is it because i have a firmware that doesnt support it? I run Windows 7 64Bit.
    4. Will my drive be faster with the new firmware?

I really appriciate any help i can get. Thank you :)

My computer > right click SSD > properties > hardware

If the SSD has "G2XX" at the end it's 34nm

    G2 means it's second generation - ie 34nm

    I believe a CDRW works. I think that's how I did it.

Do you know if that new firmware will enable the TRIM with the TRIM tool? I tried using the TRIM tool but it is disabled..
