First of all I am a non tech person. I am just your average everyday user of internet browser, email, music listener, a little bit of word, and a little bit of "let me look at the pictures I took today on my camera, tweak them a little bit and send it to your local Walgreens for printing". I also play the occasional yahoo simple yahoo games. If you fit into most of these catergories, you will be pleasantly surprise to see that these laptops are more than anyone can expect.

My comparison is a 3 year old AMD Athlon 64 3000 processors with one 1 GB of memort running XP. I am not going to get into specs because I have no clue a processing speeds, etc. What I do know is that my laptop is much faster than my older desktop in every way. Teh new Internet explorer seems to fly from page to page in comparison to my old Explorer 6. I still prefer the Exp 6 because I am probably more used to it, but I am planning on loading Firefox which is my favorite one. I love to be able to customize my links. The biggest learning curve is getting used to Vista. I dont know anything about comparability issues, because I only loaded Office 2003, a wireless mouse, and MCafee. they all seem to work fine.

This review is for the person shopping for a budget laptop who is not a tech person, but is looking for a nice laptop package and is confused as what to buy. I should add my laptop runs with 1.5 of ram I changed one of the 512 sticks for a 1 gb) and the battery life was about 2 hours on browsing the internet. I honestly do not know if you are going to notice any differences by spending an extra $200 or $300 to get the next level or two level processors to do any of these task. Save the money and buy a new one in two years that will probably be twice as powerful for less money.

Very good points and likely correct for 9 of 10 notebook users. I am curious if you have the time can you run SiSoft Sandra and run the first 2 benchmarks they are CPU benches. It is free. I have not seen the TK benched yet and would like to get an idea. Download here
