Hey guys, I'm thinking about adding some parts to my existing laptop instead of trading up but being new to it I fgured I'd come get some good advice first. I'm basically looking to increase my HDD space, my ram, my gfx card and possibly have the option of hdtv out to my plasma tv at home. Ive been shopping around and come up with some options. Any and all advice about products and procedures is massively welcome!

    Current Laptop: Acer Aspire 5672wmli
    Intel Core Duo T2300 (1.66 Ghz,667Mhz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache)
    ATI Mobility Radeon x1400
    80gb 5400rpm SATA HDD
    1GB DDR2 (support dual-channel)

    Parts I've been looking at: XFX GF 8500GT 450MHZ 1GB DDR2 PCI-E DVI HDTVOUT
    SCORPIO 250GB 8MB ATA/100 5400RPM
    KINGSTON - Memory/1GB Module for Acer Notebooks Aspire 5670 Series 5672 and TravelMate 3010 (s3012),4200(s4202),4670(s4672+4674) and 8200 (s8202/8204)

My shopping has been limited to www.elara.ie for the moment as they seem quite fast and local. I'm looking to dual-boot ubuntu/xp so if thats an issue ?

You can not put a desktop video card into a laptop(laptop's video cards are rarely upgradeable-see stickes).

You need a Notebook(2.5") Serial-ATA( SATA) Hard drive.

Almost any 200-pin DDR2-667 (PC2-5300/PC2-5400) ram will work so do you currently have a stick of 1GB in your laptop or 2 sticks of 512mb ram?

right, so that HDD and gfx card wont work for me ? It's two 512mb strips(just opened her there) I've been reading up on installing the ram and HDD so I'm ok there. Haven't touched on the gfx card yet
