    Fixing monitor

    My friend laptop monitor cracked, can he swap with the monitor from other brand laptop? with the same size but different resolution? even if the resollution is the same can you swap it?

    many
    times if their the same resolution and ccfl backlight you can swap them. depending on the machine you can drop in a higher res panel as well

    I transplant many screens in older laptops. newer LED backlight ones can be a bit more of a pain sometimes

    screws are normally unversal on the sides, you remove the hinges and the mount arms on the sides, then attach them to the transplant panel.

    There are no guarantees if X brand's LCD can be changed with Y brand's LCD.

    Your best bet is to find your model and seeing the parts list, so you can get an idea of the part number and finding a guaranteed OEM replacement screen.

    Resolution is no guarantee either, certain brands use different connectors/cables for different resolutions. Sometimes there is no upgrade in resolution, it ALL depends on the brand/model of your laptop.
