I've been in need of a flash drive since everyone in my group has one and I'm the only one that chug around his portable HD (what's the big deal, it can still fit in my pocket).
Anyway, I promised not to buy any new accessories (should this be in the accessories?) that weren't the latest technology. Therefore, I've been looking around and found that this one seems to be the fastest out there.
Any negatives on it that I should know about, and/or suggestion to alternative brands? Does the price seem fair?

Price looks fair, size seems puny (stick with your portable HDD, imo), but the performance sucks on small files (which is part of my typical usage scenario).
Can't recommend anything else: I would have bought one too. -

The SuperSonic I have feels sooo fast way faster than my external hdd and its so much easier to use when I just need to snag a file and take it somewhere.
I can hand it to somebody as well and let them take a file off it, much better than handing a hdd and usb cable over
I use it on USB 2.0 even most of the time and its still quite nice. I did a review of it you can search up on youtube.
Very pleasing build quality, love the aluminum and the cap snaps so perfectly.
Price per GB on USB 3.0 flash drives is not so hot vs HDDs, so its kind of like comparing a SSD to HDD your paying more for some kind of premium feature.
With the flash drive its speed, size and weight are those features being paid for. So if you need any of those get one, if not stick with the 2.5" hdd. -
USB 3.0 flash drives are like SSD's when it comes to price. You're paying a lot for less space even if you don't use the speed.
The thing I've found about flash drives is they are more useful if they work with everything than if they are just fast. Most of the time, you can probably expect that you'll be using it to save/transfer stuff to other computers. Those other computers will probably not have USB 3.0. Even if you have a computer with USB 3.0, it doesn't really make a lot of sense financially to drop $50-100+ now for a "fast" drive where the only speed advantage is on your own computer.
The best bang for the buck is still a 4-8GB USB 2.0 drive. You can get 'em for under 10 bucks. Heck, most of the time they are free with some sort of promo or rebate or offer. I've got several Kingston/Lexar 2GB-4GB drives I paid nothing for. Never had a problem, they transfer big files in a decent time, and they work with every computer I plug them into. If I needed more storage for bigger file sizes, I would still probably buy a USB 2.0 drive at less than half the price of a USB 3.0 one, even having a computer with USB 3.0, because I can be sure the other computers I'll be using the drive on will not.
I just feel silly spending loads on something like a USB drive, when the price will come down soon and there will be 32-64GB USB 3.0 drives for under $20 in the next year or two once USB 3.0 gets native support and becomes more widespread. Sure, it's nice having a fast drive and having bragging rights in the meantime, but unless you can really take advantage of USB 3.0 speeds in the meantime, it doesn't make much practical sense. -
Actually some USB 3.0 flash drives are only a bit more expensive to just a cheap as USB 2.0 flash drives when found on sale. The only real advantage these USB 3.0 drives offer over fast USB 2.0 flash drives (Patriot XT Boost) are: sequential reads are 2x to 3x faster, sequential write is 2x faster and the rest for small files ranges from 1.5x to 3x faster.
If you already have a USB 3.0 port on your laptop/desktop there's really no reason not to get a USB 3.0 flash drive over a fast USB 2.0 flash drive if you're on the market for a flash drive unless you need a flash drive less than 8GB (haven't' seen a 4GB USB 3.0 flash drive) but to spend a bit more on a Turbo like USB 3.0 flash drive like the Patriot mentioned by OP (really fast drive, just as fast a some SSD drive) that depends on your usage patterns for the flash drive to justify the cost. -
I thought same thing as Alienwhere as far as prices untill i saw some of the deals on newegg. You do get what you pay for so some of the cheaper ones will be a deal while other aren't work to craps. the question for me is if i can get a usb 3.0 controller that fits in my laptop cheaply and possibly one for my older core2quad desktop.

Make sure you check the read/write speed, just because it`s USB3.0 does not mean they used fast flash memory, take nothing for granted.
