    Been researching/interested in purchasing a Flash Memory [FM] device to use as;
    virtual memory,
    or actually load the O\S (a GNU/Linux bundle? or parts of xpPROsp2),
    to improve O\S performance on an Asus Z71; intel 915PM/GM chipset, 2 GB DC DDRII 533 SODIMM, PentiumM @ 2.13Ghz when needed, otherwise UV via NHC 2.pr4
    PCMCIA is Ricoh R/RL/5C476(II) or compatible Cardbus Controller. Could consider CF adapter via PCMCIA but thought this would be slower access :(!

    Card reader slot is SD capable, but no reply yet from Asus if it will read SD 2.0 or SDHC cards. Cannot find # for card reader in Device Mgr (OS=Ultimate)

    Prefer largest fastest feasible card (4GB?) that works in my NB/LT (NO camera or music use planned!) Could use MMC, MS pro, but SD is better $$!

    Appreciate any good recommendations from (or links to) users :) that have tried or are still doing this.
    Review of specifications on available FM cards @ n.e. lists NAND Flash ($$$), SDHC (HighCapacity) SDMI (Music Initiative), ECC (Error Correcting Card), ISP (In System Programmable), CPRM (Content Protection Recordable Media), Wear level Function, Low power consumption.
    Not sure which is best technology to look for. Thought lopower consumption not much of an issue since normally on AC, and LCD is biggest concern when using battery. Auguri e Boun Anno, d8d

    Thought an HD in an External enclosures via FW {a=400mbs, B=800mbs} or USB [up to 480mbs] would be much slower than the ~36 MB/s bench marks w/ HDTune 2.52 or HD Tach (3.0) show that I currently get

    You needed to put a firewire drive on there, that is what I use because it is faster then my internal drive.
