I got to decide whether to get a floppy drive with new laptop. The only thing i use floppy for on my current puter (desktop) is to occassionally update the BIOS and to create a "nuke it" Eraser disk before recycling my old computers.

Is there a way to update the BIOS without using the floppy drive as the boot drive? How do you do it?

Use a flash drive to update the BIOS. Rather than using a floppy, a flash drive can hold more stuff and can be used to boot the computer too.

If you want to boot off the flash drive, you use f2 that gets you into the BIOS and then you can choose what to boot off of.

yeah, the flash drive acts just like the floppy, only no need for the plastic disks and no floppy drive(old tech). Just put the BIOS update like you would on a floppy and go from there.
