The W8.1 benchmark was in regards to the assumption of the processor not being supported on anything but W10. Perhaps fully supported would be the fine print but much better to sensationalize it. I can just imagine the marketing department coming up with the idea to tell people their heads will explode if they don't upgrade to W10 in the next month. :/

    Kabylake early results?

You know Tiller with your pursuit of excellence I often wonder how well optimized the software your using is. One of those areas where huge gains can sometimes be made but aren't simply because the hardware is fast enough to run it 'good enough'.

The assumption is what will happen past July 2017. Gambling on how it works past that is optional. ;)

The software I use is the best I have found to date. Same as the hardware I still use.

I'm positive that this won't always be the case (at least not indefinitely), but that bridge will be crossed when I come to it.

As an example? I have used in a production setting almost every and all software that is geared towards a RAW (image) workflow. Many features I want still is from software of a dozen years ago... but I did choose wisely and did not invest too much of my time, nor training and workflow optimizations when I saw the writing on the wall (RIP Bibble).

No one has threatened to blow up heads just yet, but a little drama never hurt anyone (in the marketing dept.). :)

The one I'll be interested in is the model with Optane support. :)

Maybe it is possible to make a good Kaby Lake quad core ULV. I have the Skylake quad and with undervolting + underclocking consums very low power. Into 15W Package power I could fit 2.4GHz, while in the background running Handbrake video encoding. That 2.4GHz would be quite decent for ULV Quad ;)
