I just purchased a lenovo W500 laptop with advanced docking station, adapter and an external hard drive that fits the adaptor and docking bay. I assembled the whole thing but now need to format the external hard drive in the docking bay. The laptop doesn't recognize the new drive yet
Can anybody out there tell me how to do this? I called tech support at lenovo and they told me to google it, big help

If you're using Win XP, go to "Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Managenent>Disk Management". In there you'll see your new drive. You'll need to "Initialize" it, then you will be able to format (and partition it, if you want) it. After that's complete it will be usable in Windows.
