My pc was running fine today.
Earlier in the day I installed Prince of Persia, after which My Computer showed the C partition to have a total of ~10GB free space.

All of a sudden, while I was watching a movie (from the D partition) a balloon popped up saying, you have low disk space on C click here to free space.

Now, I was surprised by this so I opened Computer, and it showed the C drive with 0 bytes free.
I usually run disk cleanup regularly, so it didn't free up any space, instead popped up with an error saying System restore needs a minimum of 300 MB to run.

I rebooted, after which the C drive still shows only 29.9MB free, and wouldn't let me use system restore.

I chose to show protected system files, and hidden files, and selected them all to see how much space they took up.
The window said 97.7GB, while the total partition size is 110GB, so i should still have at least the 10GB that I had before

Can someone please help me figure this out, I'm worried why this is happening and have no clue what to do

    Any ideas what caused this???
    Thanks

Thanks for that thread, I'll check it out

When I try to run scandisk, it tells me to schedule it for the next time I restart my system

EDIT - That thread doesn't really help me

There might be some temp files lying around that I don't know about, is there any way to get rid of them other than disk clean up???
    Also, is it safe????

    thanks

    PS @thomas
    Downloading what???? I'm on a dial-up connection

Well, after some googling, I have found the solution

I manually deleted my temp files by going into command prompt and typing %temp%

I deleted the files there, and now My computer shows the free space as 12.8 GB

    YES!!!!!! :D :D: :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

    Thanks for your help anyway
