I have converted the backlight from CCFL to LED and pleased with the brightness and the crispier white.
    I have used a Samsung LTN154XA-LO1, 15.4" 30Pin 1CCFL lamp screen for this conversion.
Very easy and simple procedure, short description of what I did:
1.Remove the heat tapes and aluminium foil tape.
2.Separate the metal frame from the main body by releasing the tabs with a flat headed screw driver and fold back the frame.
3.Unscrew the screws and take off the metal plate.
4.Remove the CCFL light housing very slowly without too much pressure because of the fragile bulb.
5.Align the LED strip with the bottom of the screen to check the right position.
6.Remove the protective tape on the LED strip(glue).
7.Attach the strip and place the metal cover back and screws.
8.Place the metal frame and press with fingers to lock the tabs.
9.Finish it with attaching heat tapes and aluminium foil tape.

I'm attaching few pics I've taken and hope this helps someone.

I have the lcdparts.net kit on the way for my 1920x1200 Samsung display with a blown backlight...

    Expensive, but hopefully worth it.
