They're basically the same price, which one is the best in term of:
    - speed
    - reliability
    - power consumption?

    Thank you!
    Kind regards,
    Yan

I've got a couple of the MHZ2320BHs. Here's the performance results. One replaced a WD 2500BEVS and the Fujitsu is slightly cooler. I've had no worries about reliability.

AFAIK there is no 2.5" 7K500, only a desktop HDD. Which of the Hitachi 2.5" HDDs do you mean? The 5K500? If it is that one, then be aware that it is thicker than normal notebook HDDs.

    Sorry, I meant Hitachi 5K320.

Very good new about the Fuji, thank you for the results!

Also see this guide which has some more info and links.

One reason I got the Fujitsu HDDs is that the UK pricing is very reasonable.

If the same cost? Hitachi even John the contrarian might agree?

Looking at the performance results, the WD3200BEVT is pretty nice and may worth the price upgrade! Good transfer rate and access time.

If you're looking at performance, then the WD is for you, but is said to have a higher power consumption than the rest of the 320gigs.

Hitachis tend to be noisier, but Feature Tool can fix that problem.

Yes, the WD 320GB is at the wrong end of this chart. A warm palm rest can be nice in the winter but can get unpleasant in the summer.
