Well not so much of a problem as a niggle.
My new laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pa1510) will not allow me to alter any settings for my touchpad. I've had a search round on the manufacturers service desk & user forum but it's a bit like the Marie Celeste over there.
I've even tried phoning the FS tech support but no joy.
So far I've tried new drivers from Synaptics but it is still seeing the touchpad as a 2 button mouse and not a touchpad.
Is this a common issue or one reserved solely for FS machines with possibly cheap & cheerful touchpads??
Thanks in advance
Rob

Perhaps windows settings are overridding the Synaptics drivers? Go to Mouse in Control panel.
Could you clarify what exactly is the problem? I really dont understand
Whats wrong with the program recognising it as a two button mouse? Does the touchpad actually work?
Perhaps your installing the wrong version of the Synaptics drivers? Where did you download them from? -
Have you gone into Device Manager, assuming you're running a M$ product, deleted the touchpad? Reboot or otherwise follow prompts to redetect it.

My problem is that my touchpad is seen as a mouse, therefore I have none of the usual setup capabilities of a touchpad.
So far, I have uninstalled the drivers, which then required a reboot. Upon reboot, it automatically detects a PS2 mouse and installs the drivers for that. I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for a Synaptics touchpad but it still only sees my touchpad as a mouse so therefore does not give me all the options for sensitivity, tap zones etc.
Attached is a piccy of my mouse properties box. I have no mouse installed - only the inbuilt touchpad.
For info, the machine is running Vista home premium 32bit.Attached Files:

Did you solve the problem ?
I have an Amilo Pi1505 and the tapping feature is driving me up the wall.
REALLY need to disable this particular feature ! -
OK, any other people out there with this problem?? Is it just the 1505 & 1510, new Vista machines, or every Amilo??
I want to find out 'cos if it's just a few, I'll be getting back onto FS. -
I looked at Google and Usenet briefly. Folks have similar problems, a few under *nix. But I didn't find any resolutions at all. No one posted back after saying they were returning the thing. (shrug)

R|ight click on your mouse/touchpad settings on the bottom right of screen and go into the settings. I suspect you need to enable something there.
