Looking on Newegg, checking out the SSD's, I came across this review. Tell me what you think is wrong with it.

    HORRIBLE! BAD! NO!!
    Reviewed By: Rpage on 10/8/2008

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Fast bootups, very quiet, great on the battery, nice to not have to worry about bumping it

Cons: EXTREMELY SLOW!!! If you are a single-track minded person, then you will greatly enjoy this drive. Open a Word document to type & ensure nothing else is running. Otherwise, if you use your laptop at all, prepare for 30-45 second delays every minute or two. I have done a fresh install on this 128gb drive & literally cannot use it!! I rely heavily on my indexing of Outlook 2007, but that makes the drive spin non stop. I emailed support this morning from Patriot, so we'll see what they say.

Other Thoughts: I literally cannot fathom how these drives got released! Unfortunately, since there are no returns, I see myself 500 bucks dumber & with a nice brick. I REALLY hope that there is a firmware upgrade that will fix this, otherwise, I foresee a major recall coming! I even tried to go light on the drive & only have Outlook open with a SINGLE IE tab...it still locked up to the point of cutting my productivity 100% every other minute. If you're a sceptic & still buy this drive, I am sorry, but you will hear me say "Told you so"

    What's wrong with this review?
This way cheap MLC SSD's work, nothing special or new, just read the OCZ forums and you will read thousands of such reports that it is fast as long as you don't do a few things simultaneously, else it hangs and slows down the PC, which makes this SSDs unuseable as a main system drive.
You will have to tweak Vista or XP (turn off several services and processes, ...) to make this drives more useable as a system disk, still not comparable to better SLC SSDs or higher end MLC SSDs, like the Intel SSD.

The spin part is strange, but well, maybe he meant something different.

I think the poster, was referring to spin up as access or taxing.
I use the words spooling up in terms of usage cause I havea turbocharger in my truck and it spools up, and that is naturally the terminology I use.

I think the guy has the drive, I just think he used the wrong words in that sentence.

Ofcourse the review is good in general, but he was talking about "non stop spin" and that was kinda funny and what this thread is all about ;)

I think the real issue in a case like this is that he listed his technical knowledge as somewhat high.

I hate when I read a review and it's for like a video card and it says tech level, high, and then they're like "DOES NOT FIT IN MY LAPTOP. NVIDIA NEEDS TO GET WITH THE GAME MAKING THESE THINGS MORE STANDARD."
