I'm looking for something light and small to take to school because my M15x scares my classmates. I really like the size of the Asus 1215 models and I really like the price. I read that the e-350 is getting a refresh in the form of the e-450 which might offer slightly better performance but I really can't tell if its worth waiting for. All the speculation says Q3 but what I really want to know is if that is only for mobos or if we could expect to see actual launch of those devices. I did a search of the Atom road map but I found conflicting information about refreshes to that lineup. Being that any updates are going to be marginal is now the right time to buy a laptop of this form factor?

I think I'm going to forego having a gaming laptop for ultra portability and a desktop. After having the M15x for a year I realized that gaming on the go isn't something I really need. I do love the build of alienware laptops though and if I could score an M11x r1 or r2 for the same price as an 11-12" fusion machine I probably would but I don't see that happening. I just need something for word processing, internet browsing and occasional music and video as far as a laptop is concerned. I really do want to go as small as possible and be able to do all of those things properly. I'm probably going to unload the M15x while people are still getting decent resale on them and put the money towards an ultra portable and a desktop if I save for a bit I can get an aurora r3 and a sub $500 laptop.

If you need something soonish then then get the E-350. New rumors say that the E-450 will only turbo on the GPU and likely won't offer enough of a significant gain over the E-350.

I'd be happy with an x64/amd64 2gz dual core plus a Dx11/1080p gpu combo that pulls 10 watts.

And DDR3 memory that finally meets the low-power design spec. It's been too many years coming.

Don't really care who makes them.......

Cedar Trail Atom 2800 and 2600 are launching around September. So far there's only the Eee 1025C and 1025CE that I have heard of. Judging from the past I'd say they won't launch right away, probably late sept or early october at the earliest. At least for the ASUS models.
