Buy the kit, $10 or so more is worth knowing you have a matched pair.

If you buy 2 of the exact same model you won't have a problem with dual channel.

    there isn't a kit with 2x4gb sticks.
and $21 a stick seems like a deal.
they were selling kingston ram with the same specs for the same a week before.
i'm not a big fan of the kingston brand, g.skill on the other hand i "like", even if it doesn't make a big diff.

If I buy two of those RAM sticks above, isn't it the same as buying a kit with two sticks?
    They will have identical timings+speeds+sizes

Yes, you can buy two of these sticks, you can even put two different brands of memory sticks but the speeds and timings should match to utilise dual channel.

I bought a G. Skill 8gb (2x4gb) kit from NewEgg last week for my ProBook 4430s. Same speed, etc.

I think 1333Mhz memory already in past, 800-1333 can be used for home|working platform, but for gaming min. needed 1600 for good work today and in future

note quite. There really is minimal difference. What you make up in speed with 1600, you lose with loose latency timings. Vice versa for 1333
