My laptop is an Asus GL702VS and it has i7 7700HQ, GTX 1070, 1920x1080 75Hz IPS G-Sync screen.

Asus GL702VS also comes in a 1920x1080 120Hz G-Sync screen according to asus specifications.

I upgraded the LCD cable from the stock 30PIN to 40PIN (The stock screen has 30PIN, I have counted the pins on the motherboard and it is 40PIN)
    https://www.asus-accessories.com/modele/gl702vs/edp-cable-for-rog-laptop-strix-74146-63052.htm

    I also bought an AUO B173HAN01.1 H/W:1A F/W:1 1920x1080 120Hz IPS 40PIN screen (Manufactured 17/16)

Although the sceen functions perfectly at 120Hz without any issue (brightness control works), the G-Sync in NVIDIA control panel is completely gone.

I tried reinstalling the driver w/ DDU, but it didn't made any difference.

I also tried another OS and it didn't made any difference.

Does anyone know why my G-Sync doesn't work anymore?

I don't think the version 1.1 of that screen supports G-Sync.

Gsync certification in notebooks is a whitelist based scheme based on the combo of motherboard/panel/gpu.

Change the panel => combo no longer whitelisted* => no gsync

*If the panel is available as an upgrade, or in an alternate SKU for your model, the new combo may be on the whitelist

Hi, just bought this model and I'm willing to upgrade my display as well. How is it? Is it still working? Could you share how make the upgrade? Tips or anything?

    Thank you

The computer is still working perfectly without any issues after I upgrade the screen.

In order for you to upgrade the screen from the stock 60Hz display, you need to replace the video cable (EDP cable) that connects the screen to the motherboard.
The original cable from the 60Hz display is only 30PIN instead of 40 PIN.

Also instead of getting the same 120Hz IPS Panel that i bought as an upgrade, I suggest you get the panel that is found on Asus G703 instead.

    The LCD panel from Asus G703 is 17.3" 1920x1080 144Hz IPS 3ms.
There is two version of that panel.
One is called B173HAN03.2 and B173HAN03.0

    The better model is B173HAN03.2

You can get the screen here
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/144HZ-Fram...064283?hash=item4b4e87b71b:g:hhIAAOSw899bl2bS

before you purchase, make sure you tell the seller you are specifically looking for the B173HAN03.2

The B173HAN03.2 is better and have much better pixel response time (lower number is better)

So did the Gsync ever end up working out on the 120hz panel? Also on the 144hz panel I didn’t see it being g sync?

I’m looking to do the same to my
gl702vs-BI7N12 did you ever get either monitor to use Gsync correctly? The 144hz model on eBay doesn’t list the gl702vs as a compatable option but the 120hz says it’s specifially made for the gl702vs. My model is the lowest model of the gl702vs line with a 75hz screen, 12gb ram, 1tb hdd etc. just wanna make sure I can do this upgrade without sacrificing Gsync and be sure I’m able to even interchange from 30 pin to 40 pin thanks here’s the 120hz screen I was looking into but still interested in the 144hz in you could tell me Gsync works https://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-LCD-Fo...2cc9827dab:g:UlwAAOSwMvtZPreq&redirect=mobile
