A friend of mine asked me about upgrading his G73JH-X1's GPU. (This one ASUS G Series G73JH-X1 Intel Core i7 8GB Memory 500GB HDD 17.3" NoteBook Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - Newegg.com) I've read Asus uses non-standard MXM. Also that different generation MXM has different power requirements and such. Is there an upgrade path available for these units, or is it better to sell the unit and upgrade to a new model? Also, he has had issues with the mobility 5870 drivers. Some games work the the Asus provided drivers, other work with the stock Catalyst drivers. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks for the link to the Vbios, I've been reading about it but hadn't seen a link. That GPU upgrade seems a bit daunting, but if I can't handle it I know someone that can. Mostly because of the soldering, I'm terrible at it. :D Thanks a lot!
