After reading about the successful upgrade with a GL960 chipset up to a T5450, as reported by Mr. foxnews, i want to upgrade my CPU too.

Currently I have an Acer Aspire 4315, with the GL960 chipset, and with Celeron M 540.

From my research and understanding, I will need a C2D that is a socket P, and that also has 667mhz front side bus as opposed to 800, to be safe. Also, Pentium dual-cores with socket P will most definitely work. Am i correct?

Therefore, the possible upgrades for the GL960 from a celeron should be:
    T2310, T2330, T2370
    T5250, T5450

Right now i'm about to get a T5250 and give it a try now. I need someone to tell me if it'll work or not!!

If Mr. Foxnews or someone else with a GL960 chipset is reading please give me some advice!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: officially, according to Intel, the GL960 ONLY supports Celerons.

Evidence has been mounting that this is not the case; as you mentioned there's quite a few reports of people using 667MHz C2Ds (haven't heard of an 800MHz C2D on the GL960 yet) on this particular chipset. My personal opinion (and I think Powerpack agrees XD) is that the whole GL960/GM965/PM965 is just a marketing scam and that all the chips are actually the same (hence why CPUZ seems to report some GL960s as PM965s, etc).

Subsequently I think there's a good chance that at the very least a 667MHz FSB C2D should work, but because we're working outside of official specifications, nothing is for certain. An upgrade that works on one GL960 MAY NOT work on another GL960 depending on the "true nature" of these chips. So even if someone else's upgrade to a T5250 worked, it may not work for you.

960 seems to be the new 943. Officially only Celerons but people have been able to upgrade to PDC and sometimes Core 2 Duo, but it depends on the laptop.

Im another one who upgraded an Acer Aspire 4315 w/the GL960 chipset to a T5450 from a Celeron :D

It DOES support it, screw what Intel says. They also said the 940i/943GML chipset couldnt support anything but a Celeron. Guess what I, along with a dozen other Acer Aspire 3680 owners have processing for them right now (ill give you a hint- read my signature) ;)

Anyway, the difference between the celeron and the T5450 is NIGHT AND DAY. This is an upgrade that will have you smiling from ear to ear afterwards.
