    Hi all! New here!

    I have a quick memory compatibility question... will 2x2gb of 200PIN PC2-6400 SODIMM 800MHZ work with the Intel GM965 Express chipset?

    Yes, but it'll only run at 667 mhz. If there's no price difference between those and 800 mhz sticks, then go right ahead.

    Otherwise, the ones you'd want are PC2-5300 SODIMM 667mhz.

    Thanks! Will I see much performance gain from 2gb to 4gb in Vista?

    Yet again this 800 MHz question x_x;

    With Vista, it's always good to get lots of RAM. So yes, it will yield significant performance gains. However, do note that not all 4 GB will be recognized if you're using 32-bit Vista.

    How much of the 4 will be used? 3.5? I need to buy 4gb as they need to be identical sticks.

    There are mixed reports. Some say 3.5, some 3.2, sometimes even 3.

    Dual channel isn't really that important anymore.

    Ah well, still probably worth it though. 4gb 6400 800mhz is really cheap for some reason. Cheaper than the 667mhz at dabs.com?!
