    Hello community,

Is there any way/program which can control GPUs in terms of productivity, would be very nice to turn them almost off when there aren't needed.

If computer is on standby mode when I'm out, maximum what it's using is Windows GUI - but idle temps most of the time are just 5-10C lower vs. full load (games etc.), so there is no need to operate that much when idling.

Perhaps it can be done through ACPI as well, if it is so - just let me know.

Undervolting CPU helped to dropdown temperature: now 45-50C on load to 17-21 on idle. When GPU goes 50C on load, 42-44C idling.

    Specs are XPS M1730 @ 3.4 (X9000/2.8), 8800 GTX SLI, 4GB RAM

    Sincerely,
    Tim

you can download and install rivatuner.
    Download from guruof3d's website

In rivatuner, you can control the clock speeds of the graphics cards, and monitor their temperatures and framerates.
Gophn made a guide for rivatuner, you can see it here:

    Good luck,
you can also try undervolting the cpu and not overclocking to reduce the heat made by your laptop.

Okay, I'll try RivaTuner and SpeedFan as well. Thanks for reply!
