    All depends on a few factors;

    All notebooks have different cooling systems, every notebook has a different one so be wary that plays a factor. And every GPU have different bins, you may get one that runs cool or you could get one that runs very hot. Also the ambient room temperatures play a role. Also there are difference between benchmark and actual gaming..

    This. Basically, there's no definite answer since there are way too many variables. For the most part, however, it depends on the laptop and ambient temps. The card itself is much less of a factor.

    Actually, under stress(gaming, etc) under 90C is way more desirable.

    The 460M runs pretty cool during normal use. Haven't stressed it yet or loaded any game :)

    Depends on the card actually. Some cards are just built that they run cooler overall.

    Cards that can run at room temp are desirable too but 100C is the danger zone.

    if your comparing the temps of both cards in the exact same machine go to Notebook / Laptop Reviews and News - Notebookcheck.net and look at their gpu guide. it'll tell you their TDP, Which ever has the lower TDP will run cooler. As long as they are in the same conditions. Otherwise no one can answer that without know every single variable.

    Except that NVidia and ATI report TDP differently, so it's really only useful within the same company, and sometimes not even then. Also, there are numerous tricks that various manufacturers can play with their cards, including downclocking, separate fans and heatisnks, and so forth.
