TO start off I own a G50V-A1 Asus laptop, with a T9400 2.53 ghz processor, intel of course, a 9700Gt Nvidia GPU 512mb, running windows vista hom premium 64bit with dual 250gb hdd's.

Okay now that the formalities are out of the way here is my problem, I play games on my laptop and everyone says this unit is ood for gaming and say they get good performance, so I start up CSS and begin playing at medium high settings at 1680*1050 and everyone once and a while my fps drops from mid 100's to 10fps and I checked speedfan and it says my gpu temperature spiked from 80 degrees Celsius, to 108 Celsius, I havent seen anyone else with this problem, and it kills gameplay in general, I am playing in a cooler room for starters and the unit is on solid material so ventilation shouldnt be a problem but my GPU is above boiling point, does this sound like a user error or does it sound like faulty hardware? I am going to try calling tech support tomorrow and get my unit replaced because the lcd is having ghosting issues too. Any help on why my temp is hot as hell would be appreciated.

Probably the heatsink isn't properly attached. When you talk to tech support see if you are allowed to reseat it. If you are or just don't care, post back and we'll help you out.

It seems obvious that it's over heating, I'd try to reproduce the blowout, then check in event viewer to see if it logs which component is failing, seeing that's what event viewer is for.

I am probably going to send the unit back to get it replaced, I have an accidental damage warranty and a 3 year too, so I should be fine doing that, the lcd is ghosting letters too, so hopefully I can get the updated model they released a month after I got this unit.
