So, apparently the GTX 675M line was just a very bad/defective line. I have been researching for DAYS and it seems the life span of this card is 2-2.5 years before the notorious BSOD 0x116. I have tried every fix suggested, and came to the conclusion that my only viable option is to upgrade to the GTX 680M or sidegrade? to the 670MX.
I found the 680M for a reasonable price, but it's the Dell GTX 680M 2GB version. My question is will it work, or can it be modified to work? I have been researching for the past couple hours and keep finding a 50/50 argument of it working/not working. Any help is greatly appreciated!

the advice given for years is that dell cards will not work in a clevo.
i have no idea if a modded bios will solve that issue so best wait for one of the experts to advise further.

so what happened and what was you doing at the time of the crash, gaming, rendering or just general browsing.

had you loaded any new software previously or updated a driver or did it have a windows update the day before it first crashed.

what happens now, will it not boot at all. are you getting lines on your screen.

have you tried F8 into safemode on bootup and removing the nvidia driver as that bsod is a driver issue and it might not be a dead card.

if you can remove the driver try to load an older one > http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

the more info we have the better.

I received the BSOD while playing games like Payday 2, Metal Gear Rising, Metal Gear Ground Zeros, FFXIII etc... Doesn't seem to matter which game. The crashes are random, could be minutes or hours. One time my screen froze/refreshed saying the display driver stopped working and was reset, but I determined that to be a driver issue. All the same error # 0x116.

Unfortunately this began maybe in December 2014, and I (stupidly) didn't look if anything had been updated or not. Could it have been a windows update? Guess I would need to reinstall windows and game before running updates?

Computer boots fine, no lines or issues. At the moment my Nvidia card is disabled because I didn't want to deal with seeing the BSOD. Only anti-virus I use is Microsoft Security Essentials. I have been running games like PD2 and FFXIII on the HD4000 without any crashing/BSOD.

    I have tried updating drivers
Reverting drivers down to 314.22 (uninstalled previous Nvidia files/folders/reg keys)
    Reformat and install Win7
Using disc drivers (chipset -> intel HD -> Nvidia)
Cleaning out dust and repasting (did this twice)
    Installing/reinstalling DirectX
    Resetting BIOS to defaults
    Messing with Nvidia settings
    Checking and recording temps
    SFC/Scannow
    Memtest+
    Error checking on HDDs
Tweaked the TDR delay in registry

If you can install Prema's latest BIOS, you can upgrade to a 970M or 980M if it pleases you (and you can pay for it).

You aren't limited to the 680M for that EM machine. BUT you cannot use 780M/800M series cards in it, even with Prema's BIOS. Be warned.

Yeah, I would probably just save up for a new laptop before putting a 980M in this machine.

I still want to know if the Dell 680M could work, but I also am open to knowing if the 660M would work as well? You say not the 780, but what about 760/770?

Again, I mostly find Dell 660's etc... What about those?

Thanks for all the help so far!

DELL 680M will not work. I am sure.
No 700M or 800M chips will work in your EM. You only get 600M or (with Prema's BIOS) 900M.

I would much more likely suggest a 970M for your notebook. It will run very cool and you might be able to OC it a decent bit (if you're lucky, up to 780M SLI stock performance). And when you're ready for a fully new laptop, you could upgrade with skylake and pascal or something.

Thanks for all your help. That price is pretty reasonable for a 970M.

Can you link me to Perma's BIOS? Is there a guide to install where I download?

Indeed, do the 970M upgrade.. You'll need to flash Prema BIOS first with your old GPU in your laptop, then remove it and replace it with 970M.. Drivers might need inf modding to install or might just directly instal..

Think it's relevant - I've installed Dell's 680M GTX 2Gb in Clevo 150 HM with success (only modified drivers), so I can't see why it will not be working in EM

Thanks for the link D2 Ultima, and for that extra info TomJGX. I'll be watching the tutorial videos Perma posted and reading a bit more so I can feel more comfortable with this process.

MooMilk, I would say that's relevant since HM is the previous model of EM. Did you download the modified driver or modify it yourself? I am interested in any information you may have.

Dell 680M will not work in EM Clevo.
