    Hello all!

I've been using my Sager NP8660 for many years and it has served me faithfully. However, it seems my GPU has crapped out on me and does not function anymore (getting a 1.0 in windows rating index). I have tried uninstalling and installing drivers directly from the sager website to no avail. However, after some reading I found out it was possible to upgrade to the nvidia gtx 260m on this laptop. I understand I will need to get down and dirty and it will not be an easy task but I am willing to take the risk. Just wanted to get some input from people who have upgraded their GPUs for any tips or advice and if you all know of any tutorials or guides to help me? I've tried googling but so much different information was getting confusing so I decided to turn to my trusty NBR members for advice =)

    Thanks a million!

Additional info, I plan on buying the following to replace my card:

    NVIDIA GTX 260M 1GB Dell Alienware M15X M17X R2 Video Card 96RJ4 4WGVV WDXVH

    Found a seller on ebay!

Dell cards will not work properly in Clevo machines.

The GTX260M used by M15X and M17X would not fit in your M860TU.
They are MXM 3.0 type b cards while your laptop accepts MXM 2.1 type III-HE ones.

as mentioned do not buy a dell card as it will not work.

you have been sooooo lucky as my 9800gt died just over 2 years but i had extended warranty so it was replaced the same day for a 260gtx which is still going strong today.

if it is totally dead then you could try the baking method which will slightly melt the solder which in turn will reconnect and bring it alive again. this isnt a permanent fix though and weve seen it last a few weeks to a few years.

I've heard alot of bad things about Dell cards not working properly in Clevo machines. I would say see if you can find a Clevo MXM 2.1 260M/280M, though I have no idea if the M860TU can cool a 280M.

It can cool it enough. Even my old MSI could make it. The original Clevo/Sager cards will fit, but no AW. Maybe you can try the W700's FX3700m card, that will work too.
