GTX 980M 8GB Modded Bios for Clevo P170SM ?.

Hi guys,

So my laptop is due to go back for repair soon to SCAN it will have its motherboard replaced and it will get a Re-Paste. I have my eyes on a gtx 980m 8gb but i am not sure if it will be compatible with my clevo p170sm.

My motherboard according to CPU-Z is HM87.
Model - P17SM.
Currrently have Prema Mod V 1.03.04PM V2.

My other option was to wait for my laptop to return then put it on ebay i already have £1500 saved for a new laptop with dual graphics.

It's compatible.
You'll need the latest Prema mod for it (do not know if your mod is the latest)
I do not know if he's updated it so you don't need a modified .ini to install the driver yet
If you want to save up and get a P377SM-A, that's up to you.

The 980M will work... I'd personally try getting a 980M from Scan or another UK reseller and not from ebay as they'll rip you off there...

 

Thats fine will contact SCAN about this see if they have any options for me.

Also i am after a new screen the one i have at the moment the stock screen is very dull i wanted something with amazing colours if possible any suggestions >?.

 

There is no official clevo BIOS that allows 9xxM series in the SM series without a modded .ini file, so they may be reluctant to sell you that. But good luck anyway!

 

Yeah nothing they can do sadly.

Will cancel my RMA and just Re-Paste the dam laptop its working fine but the Ethernet port is broken not a huge issue but cant go to lan events anymore sadly and do not know how to fix the issue.

 

If your port is broken under warranty I believe a new mobo can be in the works. You could always get a BIOS from prema after getting back your PC, but you may need to buy the 980M separate.

 

I would have your mobo replaced if it's being done under warranty.. It's really dumb not to have it done... You do lose a few days but it's worth it..
