I have searched and tryed to find a answer to this question but i only find pure benchmarkes and other stuff. The thing i wonder is what impact a 4200 rpm drive will have on the performance in games, except longer loading times.

The computer im looking on is a Asus A6Ja (Core Duo 1.66 GHz, 512 MB ram, will proberbly add 512 more and a ATi X1600 256 MB), good stuff except the 80 GB 4200 rpm harddrive.

Do anyone have any benchmarks or experience from difference in game performance with a 4200 rpm harddrive?

I don't know the benchmark difference, but I know the loading times will be longer for sure... I think once everything is loaded, the FPS and other things.... won't matter that much if your playing on a 4200RPM or a 7200RPM. If I were you I would upgrade the 4200RPM HD and put it in a USB case or sell it, and upgrade to a 5400RPM or 7200RMP. The Hitachi 7K100 HD's are great!
