I have a gateway 450 SX4 laptop w/ a 1.6 P4 processor. It came from gateway with 256 MB of memory installed in it. I have since installed another 256 MB module in it. I would like to upgrade it to 1 GB of total memory but the maximum memory my sytem will support is 512 MB. I have noticed that the new 450 laptops will support 1 GB of memory. Is it possible to download a new bios so that my system will support 1 GB? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the downloads section, if it's anything like Dell's you should be able to download it. Remember to use AC power and do not install anything else while doing the BIOS update.
