    Gateway P-6831FX CPU Upgrade

    Hi..I'm in the process of upgrading my CPU. When i removed the bottom panel theres 4 small screws surrounding the CPU and 1 large screw at the end of the heat sink. Do I remove those screws and lift the sink off the CPU. Thanks!!

    yes, that should be it. Just be careful, if you have to put a lot of force to remove it, check to see if you removed all of the screws. Then simply clean off the thermal paste on the old processor, and on the heatsink, with rubbing alcohol, and then put the new processor in, apply paste, screw together and boot her up.
