I heard that these laptops come with both 1440 x 900 and 1920 x 1200 resolutions and i was wondering if I acquired one with the lower resolution would it be beneficial and possible to upgrade the screen resolution to 1920 x 1200 by changing the screen? Or is this impossible to do?

yeah it's possible; i, personally, am not too confident to try it myself but there's a thread stickied in the Gateway sub-forum that details the complete disassembly of the laptop.

As long as you get a compatible screen, the swap should work. Whether or not it's beneficial is really up to you. I mean, if you think you could use the increased resolution, great.
