    Hello all!

I joined this site because quite frankly every time I seem to search for something laptop related, I come across a link so some thread here. So, now I have just decided to join. :D I do have a question that I have been researching since I got my new laptop over a week ago. I used to have a P-6860FX, and now I have the P-7805u. I looked up the PM45 chipset on the intel webside:

    http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=35515

And it states in the column of supported CPU's that the Q9100 is supported. However, I am wondering if the BIOS in my machine will support it. It's a costly chip, but I have a great use for it. I don't want to spend all that money unless I know if it will work. I googled, searched this site, and even called gateway about it. But to no avail. My BIOS version is 9c.11.00.

I remember reading in another thread that a Packard Bell BIOS was used to see if quad support could be achieved (on a P-7811), but it didn't look like there was resolution to this effort. I am wondering if anyone here knows if this BIOS will support quad. Or if there is a work around (like loading a similar BIOS) that would allow a quad core to be used. I am not looking to O.C., but just gain the quad core capability. Any information would be appreciated.

    :)

Well, finally after much searching, I found a thread that someone stated that they tried the Q9100 in this laptop and it didn't work. Oh well. Guess I will just have to get a stronger dual core if I want to upgrade. :(
