Hey guys, I'm not going to even pretend like I know too much on the spec side of computers, but I was just wondering about a graphic card upgrade for my stock Gateway MP8708.

    Processor: Intel Core2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz
Graphics: Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family
    RAM: 2GB

I love the laptop, overall it runs pretty well, I would just like to up the FPS.. The main game I play is wow, of course, and maybe spore if it ever comes out, but that's about it.... So if I could get any info on whether I can even upgrade it or not, and if so what would be the best bet. Thanks for any help in advance.

I'm showing the graphics card to be the GMA950...that sucks for gaming. Stay away if you are in to newer FPS.

I would read the GPU Guide for more information, but something like Wow and similar would require a mid-level card or better (X1400 or 7400 or better).

Cool Cool.. the link was just to the specs page, but my main concern was if I can even upgrade/replace the graphics card, and if I could what might be a decent replacement.

Yes, Im saying that I already took it home and have had it for awhile. So, I was just wondering what I could do to increase graphic performance, short of buying a new laptop, maybe changing out the motherboard or something? Like I said I dont know too much about my options, if any..

No options. B/4 you replace MoBo and find a GPU for a laptop to fit the space you do not have save time and money and buy a new computer. Sorry.

baddogboxer, I know who that is ;)

This is an old thread, so it may be closed on you

It seems like you are having a interface issue. If it powers off when you move it, than something is not properly connected.
    Are you handy?
If so, you will have to take the system apart to analyze and target the part of the system which is not thoroughly connected.
It may be something from an improperly seated memory card to a simple ribbon cable becoming disconnected.
The only way to find out is to take it apart and put it back together, making sure that everything is connected properly.
