i have a gateway mx 6445 amd i want to upgrade the ram. im unsure as to what type to buy because it is listed as having DDR 2700 ram, and i dont know if the motherboard will accept DDR2, which is what most ram i see for sale is. also does the 2700 5400 6400 etc number have to be the same when i upgrade? im sorry i know these are very basic questions but im clueless here.
also i apologize if im posting this in the wrong section.

    thanks ahead for any help!

Totally odd...two posts from different users asking about the same laptop. That's a first.

    Anyway...

No, the laptop cannot accept DDR2 RAM. You can only use DDR RAM. You can use faster DDR RAM, but it will downclock to DDR 2700 speeds, so just get what is cheaper.

You want two of the same type of stick. So either two DDR 2700 sticks or two DDR other-speed sticks.

when looking on newegg, for example i found DDR 2700 which would run me 60 bucks to get 2 of those for 2gigs of ram.

on the other hand i can find 2 gigs of DDR2 ram for 15 bucks... am i looking in the wrong places?
i cant post the links since i havent made 15 posts
