Hi, sorry if this sounds absolutely retarded but ...

Does a 250Gb laptop Hard Drive weigh more than a 120Gb laptop Hard Drive ? I'm sure it's negligible but I'm just curious.

    thanx

errr shouldnt be much more. The 120GB should be single platter, where as the 250GB is double platter, but as you said the difference is negligible. :)

OK cool, because i'm gonna be buying an HP soon and mobility and power consumption are what I'm trying to maximize most.

You said that 250Gb is a double platter ? I'm guessing that a 250Gb drive takes more power as well ? (but also negligible)

    thanx bro

if its the same spin speed (5400/7200rpm) between 250 and your 120gb there should only be a very small power consumption gap or maybe even none.

Old hard drives didnt have the technology to run as efficient as drives today, this could affect power consumption

depends which drive you buy im pretty sure that some of the notebook drives at 250gb are single platter
