What could be the problems with buying a laptop RAM that is not a good brand name?

Memory will not work or stop working after some time (usually right after guarantee expired), simply.

But, these are rare cases. As long as you do not buy some of no-name East product, you will be just fine. Kingston will be okey, cheap and highly available.

As long as the memory has lifetime warranty, brand name makes little difference because most of the companies get their memory from the same supplier.

This is simply misinformation. Only a handful of Mfrs actually produce memory chips. Makes no difference if your memory stick its name brand or not.

What matters more than the brand is the warranty. I'd go for something with a lifetime warranty. I've had no issues with the kingston RAM in my laptop.
