Hello everybody ,
as the title clearly states , I am another genius who spilled coffe on his laptop. I usually am very careful around my electronic devices , but I also am a very clumsy person. It's the first time of my laptop history it happens.
Accident Description :
When I spilled the coffe , the laptop did not turn off in the next 5-15 seconds and I am assuming that no short-circuit took place . I turned it off , plugged the power cable out and removed the battery and started cleaning up . After 5 minutes I tried to power the laptop on , but the screen won't turn on. The laptop is working "fine" but the screen won't turn on . I tried it again after 30 mins but the problem persists. I am not sure if the screen itself has the problem , because no coffe was spilled there. Is there a hardware component that connects the screen with the hardware itself ? This component might have gotten some coffe to drink .
Thanks for any help or tips you can give.
Have a nice day !

Breaking News , haha
The Screen turned on but was blank white for 5 seconds and now its off again !
Edit : Sorry for the doublepost !
The component I was talking about : The connection between the video cable and the LCD Screen !
Edit nr.2 : Hehe it is working fine now again ! Screen is a little bit slow but it worked ! Bazinga ! -
I'm not aware of anyone or anything which can completely clean spilled liquids from a laptop in less than 24 hours, let alone 5 minutes. You should turn it off immediately and unplug + remove battery as you did, then completely unassemble the laptop, clean with spirits, and leave the components sitting in a container of rice for at least a full day to soak up any residual liquid. Then repeat with another clean with spirits and leaving it to dry again.
Turning the laptop on again could possibly have done more damage than the spill itself. I would check all of the monitor cables and hope it's that, otherwise you must have short-circuited something.
Plug the laptop into an external monitor and see if it works. If not, it's not the screen which is damaged. If it does, you know it's the screen. If neither work, you have bigger problems. -
Everything works now except that the Display is very slow. So the laptop has been damaged there for sure. The screen has a 5-10 seconds delay. The thing is I dont have a fitting screwdriver . Story of my life with those damn screwdrivers.
Edit : On the second boot , the screen has become faster. I know I should leave him off for at least the day , but I like to solve problems aggresively. This might sound stupid to you but thats how I like to proceed , even if its risky. But the only reason I am doing it is because the coffe went underneath the laptop and not on the keyboard. Some drops reached the inside obviously ( which is enough to destroy a laptop of course ) .
I am going to leave him off for now . Thanks for your answer !
