I currently have a NP8150 in Phase 2, so I expect it to arrive very early May.

The way I see it is:

    C400
    - Newer, slightly faster I believe.
    - More expensive.
    - Potentially buggy. (C300 had issues early on I believe.)
    - Might be sold out for a while.
    - Unknown reliability.
    - No user reviews

    C300
    - Older, slightly slower I believe,
    - Cheaper
    - Been out for a while, so most bugs have been worked out I believe.
    - Reliable from what I have read.
    - Great user reviews on NewEgg/Amazon.

Thoughts on which I should I go for? And Why?

Looking at probably the 128gig model.

    I'm in the same predicament.

I've been holding off the last two months expecting the C400 to be around the corner but I'm on the verge of just getting the 256gb C300 now.

I'm not sure what the performance difference would be on a late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro anyway; Probably negligible. My reasons for holding out were:

    - To see if there's an affordable (relatively speaking) 512gb version.
    - Next gen hardware. Generally fuzzy feeling.
    - Potentially faster and robust firmware/hardware.
    - More future proofing. Expect it to outlast the laptop.
    - Maybe lower power consumption (smaller chips).

Micron C400 is available right now (if in stock) at superbiiz.com. I've been using it for around two weeks. Only problem I've had with it was the randon stuttering that all new sata III drives are having due to LPM and RST. A quick registry fix and problem solved. Love the drive by the way. Very fast and ATTO results are 455MB/s read and 275MB/s write. That's after 120GB worth of programs and music installed.

Real world benchmarks of the C400 vs. C300, Vertex 3 and Intel 520.
    Crucial m4 256GB SSD (C400) Review - Load Times

C400 is only slightly faster. Also with read jobs.

Which one should you take? It depends on the prices and how much money you want to spend.

If C300 is significantly cheaper I'd probably go for C300.

i'm upgrading my 120gb 510 /500gb 7200rpm drives to a single 256gb c300. i was intrigued by the m4's, i know it's faster, but they've been fudging the final release date for months. last i heard in was April 30th..

i think the better performance is only worth it if they're the same price. the c300 i'm sure will drop in price once the m4 is about to come out so you may want to just jump a deal for one of them

I heard the C300 is faster in random read, which is what's important if you're using the drive for your OS. Plus it'll be cheaper I imagine. So I say don't bother waiting.

    I didn't wait. I bought a 128 GB (119.2 actually) C300.

I am very happy and have yet to see anything (think Intel 510) that is faster. And being a bit slower they still are double the cost.
