I currently have a 1 year old laptop that I purchased from CYBERPOWERPC.COM one of the memory slots doesn't work now, so i'm only rocking a 512 stick of ram. I had 512 in each slot, making it obviously 1gb of ram,

QUESTION...is.. can i buy a stick of 1gb ram to put in one of the slots, i'm not too familair with laptops and how they work really.

here is some information i got from the program SIW just incase that helps..

Cpu Socket Socket 754 [CPU 1]
Chipset Model SiS755 CPU to PCI Bridge
    Memory Summary
    Location System board or motherboard
    Maximum Capacity 8192 MBytes
    Memory Slots 2

any help will be greatly appreciated..

    thank you in advance.

Yes you can put a 1GB stick in. Question, what happened to your 2nd slot? Are you sure it is the slot?

You need to check if your system is DDR1 or DDR2. Download CPU-Z and go over to the memory tab and post a screenshot.

CPU-Z screenshot is not reading your Ram correctly. Says 2.5 volts (DDR) but says PC3200 which is DDR2 1.8V. ??

If it's Socket 754 like in your Sig, it's gonna be DDR.
