Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get used to a touch pad? I've previously used the TrackPoint aka "nub" pointing system when not using my mouse (even though my "old" laptop has both, the one I had before that got me used to the nub, and have hardly used the touch pad). I found it very frustrating on my new laptop before I plugged in my mouse, but part of that may be a need to adjust the sensitivity. (Like it was worse than when I try and use the touch pad on the one with both)

Definately adjust the sensitivity. Personally, I like it on the low side, others like it very high (it's just hard to control that way, imo). And make yourself use it without a mouse for a few days -- you'll adapt very quickly. I bet in 2-3 days of normal use with just the touchpad and you'll be using it very adeptly.

I can't stand using the touchpad. Try taking small strokes with your finger instead of long bold ones.

I hated the touchpad when I first got my laptop. But then I was taking my time trying to find a matching mouse (I didn't have a spare lying around, and I didn't feel like borrowing one from work), and before I knew it, I was cool with just a touchpad. The only time I feel like I *need* a mouse is when working with spreadsheets, which happens only when I work from home. So, just give it some time, don't use the mouse, and you'll be a-okay

Thats why you've got to start learning all those keyboard shortcuts, helps a lot to navigate around without the need to point n'click.

yes i do agree. There is a load of XP shortcuts on the microsoft website

Changing the sensitivity helped a ton
I do need to work on getting used to hte way these can scroll though. I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts, but I'm sure there's a ton more out there.
