I need a good gigabit ethernet expresscard for my 1700. I put a SSD in it, so I'm getting 110+ transfer rates, but my regular 100 mbs ethernet can't handle network transfers at any decent speed. I've got everything but my laptop wired for gigabit, so I need something for it. I've been doing some research and I've found both the linksys\belkin cards, but neither of them offer official drivers for vista 32 bit. Some of the reviews say they will work with generic drivers; some say they won't, or that they're all around garbage. Anyone else have experience with these or another type of expresscard? Thanks.

Maybe it was garbage a while ago, vista drivers has intended to get better by time.
The express-slot can handle the speeds without a problem so i don't think you will have a problem really.

The only thing to think about is that if you only have a SSD in one computer, the other computer will bottleneck if not having one.

See, the manufacture doesn't include drivers for either card, and I've heard the products are kind of crappy themselves, dropping connections, flimsy, etc. Then again, I've also heard glowing reviews, so I'm not really sure.

I'd take it like the bad reviews are by people who doesn't know lot about what they have actually bought or how to use it. So if there is good things about it, it shouldn't be a problem really. That's my experience anyways. Because most people intend to say alot of crap about things that they can't even handle or use correctly.

I'm also hearing good things about this card, but it's more then I'd like to spend.

Yeah, cheapest I found was 75$. Oh, the joys of getting gigabit on a notebook...
