I understood that Dell provides Glossy 15.6” Widescreen LCD. Will I cause any kind of reflection problems with tube lights?

Depends how sensitive you are to it. After a while you will probably get used to it. If you still feel that it is bothersome, you can get an anti-glare screen protector from 3M or buyviewguard.com and it will cut down most of the glare/reflection.

Glossy screens are superior. They offer superior color and contrast reproduction.

I strongly prefer matte screens but you usually have to look in the business lines of notebooks to find them. I find the reflections very annoying, but a lot of other people don't mind them. The glossy screens are much prettier for watching movies in dim rooms. Matte screens are better if you will have windows behind you or in bright rooms. Its just personal preference.

By having a removable anti-glare screen protector, you can get the best of both worlds. Under bright light and outdoor use, put on the matte screen. If you want to watch a movie in a dark room, just remove it.

I tried one of those covers on my old laptop, and it was better, but still not great. Made the laptop look a bit tacky as well, but I guess there are probably better options out there.

Maybe for you, but not for everyone. I cannot tolerate reflections on the screen, which is made worse by the fact that my house is quite brightly lit and has a lot of windows.

And just to be clear, I have used both matte and glossy screen laptops. I much prefer matte screens, and have no problem with the color reproduction or contrast levels of my matte screens (although that's probably because some of the matte panels were of higher quality than the glossy ones).

After getting my T400 with a matte screen, I can't believe how I lived with the glossy screen that was on my old HP laptop. On low brightness, I don't see reflections in the screen anymore and the picture quality is still very good. It really depends on your environment (lots of lighting?) and personal preference. Try both out and compare the two and you should find the one you like better.

Matte screens have a washed out/dull picture and horrible contrast.

Glossy screens are the way to go.
