I'm using Lenovo 3000 N200, and i really HATE the reflections in dark areas. I can clearly see my face in the "not too bright" areas.
But I realise most new notebooks are glossy and people love them
Is it my problem? Is the Lenovo gloss low quality?
How do you stand the reflections?

use it in a dim environment. but if you can't do that, just put up with it. in the afternoons when i am on the train, it is nearly to hard for me to watch a movie comfortably.

80% of the time I don't have a direct light source behind me. If I use my laptop where there is a direct light source like the sun or a lamp, I try not to have it behind me where it will cause glare. Not that big a problem. =^)

Your brain learns to ignore it, just like any other unwanted stimulus.

I'm with Lithus on this one. I voted "dark room" because it's the truth. I probably "love matte" but I don't have any for comparison. Confusing choices! It's just the LCDs that don't offer you any choice!!

love glossy, looks sleek, i use my laptop in a dim room, in a class and at night, hardly outdoors or in sunlight.

my 1st laptop was a matte but didnt feel as vibrant as glossy, i mean with a glossy screen you really feel and appriciate the colors.

I have gloss and sometimes it annoys me. The rest of the time I just live with it or I don't notice it.

    I have a DELL Vostro 1000 2GB DDR 2 RAM Athlon X2 120GB HDD the works.
And I am trading it froma VAIO XBRITE with 512MB ram and Pentium M

But my DEELL has a useless Matte Screen, and as aresult it has damaged my eyes permanently. Why? nope not that it has reflections but simply becasue matte is a very old technology that defracts light when it hits the screen causing eye fatigue and after a long while you get permanent eye strain and eye floaters.

I am trading it for some cash aswell plus this VAIO.

When your eyes are damaged because of useless Matte then you understand why they created glossy anti reflective screens.

Plus the XBRITE in a Vaio has hardly any reflections anyways.

    I like both.
I like the glossy screen because when i'm sitting in a small class of 25 students i'd be using my laptop with the lowest brightness. It's hard for me to see but its nearly impossible for others to see. Also i can see what people are doing behind me and perhaps gesture to them.

reflections can easily be fixed, in a dark room simple.

screw that rubbish they call matte.

Eye strain is caused by staring at something close for extended amounts of time. Just like lifting a lot of weights, the muscles in your eyes get sore. Light can exacerbate the problem, but I've never heard of defracted light causing eyestrain.

Well, if im concentrating on whats on the screen, i dont realize the reflections. But If I focus on the screen itself then i notice the glare slightly. Its worth it. brighter and crisper, vivid, etc.
