I'd say go for the T6600, Core 2 Duo's are better for battery life as well as being faster than the pentium dual cores. Personally, I'm not a fan of Toshiba, and imho Sony is way overpriced. I love my ASUS, and HP has been known to have solid laptops.

Penitum Dual Core and Core 2 Duo are essentially the same processors. The only difference is the Core 2 Duo's have more cache and run at a faster bus speed than the Pentium Dual Core.

If your usage if web browsing, surfing, word processing, general office work, light image editing, etc both processors will perform essentially the same.

Save by getting the cheaper processor. Instead focus on the harddrive speed(7200 rpm vs 5400 rom), ram, etc.

i don't think so. Pentium uses the NetBurst architecture, while the C2D uses Core 2 architecture. go for T6600 anytime.

T6600 anytime.. Pentium processors are crap... but if you can get a a better processor like that from P7000 , P8000 and P9000 or T9000 series... and try not to get Hp, their laptops overheat... also Asus in some cases.. Dell and Toshiba are quite good..

Hold up, not letting that one slip by.
The Pentium Dual-Cores in new laptops are simply Core 2 Duos with less Level 2 cache and some features disabled; the NetBurst architecture died with the Pentium Ds on the desktop.

That's very outdated info. The newer mobile processors sold under the "Pentium" name are based on the Core 2 architecture.

That's right. Except sometimes even the bus speeds are the same too. Ignore the marketing name. The t6600 has more L2 cache and 0.1 GHz more clock speed. And a sticker that says "Core 2 Duo inside" or something like that.

I agree with comp_user -- go with the t4300 and spend the $100 on a faster hard drive or more RAM.
