    Welcome,

Is there any good 1600x900 17,3 screen available? I mean saturation, brigthnes, view angles and contrast.

I have MSI GT780DX with Chi Mei CMO 1720 1080p screen but I want to replace it with good 900p screen. Any chances?

    regards
    Boomz.

may I ask why do you want to downgrade the resolution in the first place?

Everything is too small. I know there is some benefit of larger work space. Is it worth having such high DPI? And if I change font size in system settings I'm automatically loosing part of that workspace.

    Furthermore it takes gpu power.
I know that gtx570m is decent card (for a laptop). But I see no point in torturing it with 1080p, on the screen size I won't even notice quality difference. FHD is desired for 24"+ inch screens, IMHO.

FHD is groundless on 17.3 screen. It does more bad than good.

    Glossy or matte?

I support you, 1440x900p is what I wish my 15" was...

Did you try changing the DPI to 125%?

Doesn't really matter as long as saturation, view angles, contrast and brightness are good. The laptop is to be used indoors only.

Yes, but as I say: The one and only benefit of FHD resolution on 17,3 screen that I can imagine is greater workspace. After you change DPI to 125% in operating system, FHD resolution is becoming completely meaningless. Bigger fonts take more space. So you loose extra space that you earned by having higher resolution.

And I assure you - everething is fine with my eyes. I can see sharp and clear. But 1080p on 17,3 is little bit crazy. On 15'' it is madness.

    So, isn't 17.3" 1080p @ 125% DPI the same as 17.3" 900p 100% DPI?

Well the issue is most 17.3" 1600x900 LCDs are garbage, as they are bottom of the barrel, 60/45 viewing angles panels. Only 1080p panels offer better viewing angles, color gamut, constrast ratio.
