Hi ,
I plan on getting a large 2.5 HD 120GB but it seems hard to find what enclosures support this size . some state 80GB some 100GB some dont have that info .
Did anyone planted such a large drive in an enclosure ?
I prefer a good one where you can fasten the drive with 4 screws . The drive btw is WD scorpio , its the cheapest largest drive I could've found .
Thanks

Well I don't know for notebook drives. But I know my buddy has 3 400GB drives in external enclosures, so USB does support it. It is really what the external enclosure will support.

I think Gilo wants to use a 2.5 inch enclosure which does not have its own power brick and must rely on power from the usb port. The three enclosures that I have all came with a power pigtail (on the usb cable) that connects to a second usb port to supply the extra power if needed.
Sorry I don't know if these enclosures will support a 120 gig drive. -
If it's an IDE drive, don't worry. The only issue you MIGHT have (if you don't use NTFS to format) may be that you have to split it into more than one partition. WinXp made me do that.

Gilo check out the Vantec NexStar3 enclosures, they come in 3 different colors, a really nice carrying pouch that's actually usable, runs off USB power, and I've read here and there people have put big drives in there, up to 100, I haven't read anything about 120, but I don't see why not.
It's an awesome little enclosure and it's cheap for what you get.

thanks everyone ,
USAFdude : im talking about 2.5 drives & enclosures , 400gb drives are 3.5" and their enclosures are different .
btw I got a i9300 but wsxga is not an option . did you change the lcd panel by your self to a better screen quality wise ?
Chustman got my drift , yes the 2.5 enclosures and drives are superior when you dont have to use power brick , smaller with less cords to tangle .
My worries are the chipset support for large drives and the USB power VS power consumption of the drive and what you said about the Y cable is exactly what I thoguht I'll need so I think I'll pick one by looks only and give it a shot hoping the chipset will support it . -
I use a VENUS 2.5" USB 2.0 aluminum enclosure. It supports 200GB+ drives (according to the spec). I got it from newegg.
