whats the best place to get a laptop repaired in the UK!

I'm getting little green pixels appear on the screen as my computer gets hotter/play games. Its been getting worse over time and now cant even play Civ4 without it crashing :(

I have had one quote say its the motherboard and another say its the graphics card. and one said it was the screen even though I told them when I plugged it into a TV I got the same problem.

    Any Ideas?

your graphics card its not strong enough and when u playing graphic card is overheating probably and causing green pixels to appear
even when overclockers working with ati tool they overclock and
ati tool program shoving them moving small 3D picture and if greens pixels start appearing then is the top of overclocking graphic card
    that is probably your case
    just stop play games :)
or change graphics details to low in options

Sadly its not that simple, my computer was able to play these games fine, at the settings I have now for years. But recently the green pixels appear when playing games on the lowest settings and its getting worse! I started playing Homeworld 1 for this reason "lowest settings" but its started happening there as well!

slowly my screen is being taken over by a little green army of green pixels!

    open laptop
    and clean everything in there
you have full of crap dust in there especially in fan and outer bars where hot air going out
don forget check bars where is air sucking in that is most important
it's very dangerous to suck in hot air MUST be cold best is ''freezing'' air breezy air
do you have green army immediately when you turn on laptop or after while ?
your laptop is overheated an gpu is not cooling properly !
after cleaning your laptop inside I recomending you to buy aditional cooler under laptops
quality ones are very good ..

I'll bet you have the 7900GTX (not the 5900) and that card has known issues, you can call dell to buy a replacement to scrap the entire machine.

Yes it is a 7900GTX got mixed up Sorry

a green army scout appears after a few minutes of the computer being on and he slowly gets more reinforcements as time goes on. if I leave the computer on over night the screen saver is overrun with them 20/30 and maybe some blue ones too!

I don't mind the green pixels "there my friends" its the crashes that annoy me, sometimes I get a blue screen that says "Parity Memory Error Return to Manufacturer"!

I have cleaned out the computer before using a mini vac and toothbrush, had it all in bits. its pretty clean inside now! but the problem continues.

I have 4 Pepsi bottle screw caps filled with bluetack that I stick over the laptops feet to give another 2cm of clearance, that's always worked in the past.

Scrap the entire machine :( is that likely,
Its worked hard all its life rendering 3D Animations for days at a time, But I promised the laptop to my brother for its semi retirement, so it can spend its last days in peace surfing for por*!

Ideally I wouldn't want to spend more than £150 pounds on a repair and then buy a Blue-ray player for it "Mobile 1080p Cinema" the perfect present for him!

    is this not likely
