Hey,
Got Samsung 840 SSD Pro, what should be my first steps?
Like do I need to do anything special after getting an SSD? Any settings I need to change?
I am doing clean windows install, but is there anything else I need to do to achieve maximum speeds?
Dont know much about SSDs and this is my first SSD drive.
Thanks.

I did nothing with my Samsung 470s (beside leaving 40 GB unpartitioned as overprovisioning, but that's really optional) and they're still going strong after ~1.5 years of pretty heavy use now...
Windows 7 automatically disabled defragmentation and such, so nothing really to tweak there.
The only thing I can think of is to disable CPU low power modes (Throttlestop or set to High Performance in Power settings) because it sometimes makes SSDs lag a bit more. -
Leave 30% or more unallocated space for Over-provision.
Download Samsung SSD Magician 4.2.1 software and run it after all of the drivers are installed: Support - Solid State Drives MZ-7PD256 | Samsung Memory & Storage
Enjoy! -
Thanks, do I need to change to AHCI in boot settings?

Yes AHCI for SATA mode; and find out if you're capable of UEFI/GPT or only Legacy BIOS/MBR.
You didn't say what version of Windows or the type of machine and what OS was shipped with it.
You can setup Windows 7 on USB fairly easily for MBR install, here's a list: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html
