So i bought a Patriot inferno 120gb. working great so far, i put a clean copy of windows 7 x64.
Noticed that windows didn't automatically turn off pagefile, so i did that and was wondering if i need to tick on or off any other boxes to get the most out of it.
Also about TRIM, it says software dependent(something similar) so how do i put that ON.
Also, everything is peachy, but game load times aren't that much faster, anything to remedy that? windows does boot way way way faster though. Way faster.

Just make sure defrag is disabled for the SSD. That's the only major thing you HAVE to do.
If you are running Windows 7, TRIM should be enabled. Check by doing this: How can i know if TRIM command is working on windows 7 x64? - Microsoft Answers -
its ok to leave pagefile on? i thought it chews on the SSD quite hard.
Thx for the help too, TRIM was on apparently and i offed the defrag. -
Well, there will be more writes if the page file is on the SSD. At only 4GB RAM you might be pushing it without a page file though, if you can upgrade your AM to 8GB, then i'd say trash it completely. Limit the size for now at least.

I used to worry about writes too, but even 64gb SSDs have been real-world tested to survive for over 500tb of writes. I would not worry one bit about leaving the pagefile enabled. -
ill leave it off :x i don't feel entirely safe about it, it is sandforce and i am a tad paranoid about it catching fire any moment, will just get some more RAM sometime later to stop windows from complaining about running out of RAM.
Good old time when i was running 1gb ram and all the games would work... ;/ 512Kb was it that was supposed to be plenty for everybody as Gates said. One or another anyways. -

The second one has some interesting things to free up space - although I would leave the Windows search option ON!
Got an SSD, what now?
