ok, so i'm drawn between 2 computers, and the graphics is going to be the deciding factor.
NVIDIA GeForce G9500M GS or the 8600M GT
the 9500M GS has 512GDDR2
the 8600M GT has 256GDDR3
what's the difference and why should i pick that one over the other?
i'm doing photo editing, music recording and gaming, lots of gaming, i want the better future proof card, i've been told the 8600M, but i'm curious as to what you guys think =)
thanks a ton!

You commies do not like choices do you? You guys do not like innovation as well pretty evident! Anyway the 256 mb 8600GT in GGR3 is better the other one is just a 8600GT 512mb but with a smaller die.

But aren't there 256MB versions with DDR2? If so Which are you looking at, make. model? And the notebook/computer in your sig is very hot so, what is up let us know might be able to help more. And in general, the 9500 can handle many functions the CPU has to handle with the 8600 freeing the CPU free to handle other things. Of course in gaming means nothing but watching a movie it might. Post more.

yes, there are, but the dell xps 1530 version is the ddr3, and that's what i'm looking at, ther other is an ASUS G1 that just came into my work the other day
i'm really set on the dell, i'm just curious to know why the GDDR3 is better than GDDR2
this is probably the only thing that confuses me about graphics
whats the GDDR2 to GDDR3 difference? haha =) -
DDR2 runs slower than GDDR3. In addition DDR2 is really just the same as the RAM you put in your notebook. That is why I call it GDDR3 and not DDR3. It was developed by ATI. Go figure! For you the consumer the GDDR3 is faster clocks/Ghz. And for your post, a 256MB GDDR3 (XPS has) is better/faster than ddr2 whether 256MB or 512MB. I have heard different things about 9500m GS and what it uses. Until more people confirm. I don't know what to say.
